Lots of research into essential oils currently. These potent plant extracts are being investigated by scientists as medicines to combat tough, antibiotic resistant bacteria, including MRSA. Taking essential oils internally can be dangerous, but there are safe and effective extracts available. For digestive health, the oils need to be inside an enteric-coated capsule, allowing for slow release. Exciting to see research on the rise! Beyond antibiotic applications, plant oils show promise for a number of other conditions, including anxiety and digestive complaints.
For children with irritable bowel syndrome, enteric-coated peppermint oil stands out in the research. In a recent study, 75% of children taking peppermint oil improved after 2 weeks.
